Make it a December to remember.

London’s riverside transforms at Christmas, with the Southbank reinventing itself as a veritable winter wonderland. Stroll along the Thames as twinkling lights and seasonal decorations create a magical ambiance and explore the winter markets, where you can indulge in artisanal treats, sip on mulled wine, and find unique gifts from local craftsmen, all housed in quaint wooden chalets. Always a hot spot for culture, the area comes alive in the winter months with an array of events and performances, from enchanting carol concerts to captivating theatrical shows, with plenty to entertain audiences of all ages.

Good food is the foundation of genuine happiness.”

A short walk along the Thames you’ll find London’s famous Borough Market, a bustling haven for foodies under the city’s historic arches. Take a walk around to sample some seasonal delicacies, grab something from one of the many street food stalls, stock up on gifts or enjoy a more leisurely meal at one of the area’s outstanding restaurants, representing a dazzling array of international cuisine. Keep your eyes open for special seasonal events, enjoy the buskers performing carols, and make sure you strike up conversations with the market’s charismatic traders, who are always ready with a food fact, recipe or joke. Play your cards right and it may even get you a taste of something special from the counter.

A memorable evening at St Pauls

As the sun sets, make sure you take in the city lights from the riverbank, which are even more spectacular in the darker months. Then enjoy the choral evensong at St Paul’s Cathedral. Held within the magnificent confines of this iconic London landmark, the service offers a tranquil respite from the bustling city outside. As the angelic voices of the cathedral choir fill the vast, resonant space, attendees are enveloped in a sense of peace and reverence. The harmonious blend of scripture, prayer, and choral music, set against the backdrop of St. Paul’s awe-inspiring architecture, creates a moving and unforgettable experience. Whether you are seeking spiritual solace or simply wish to enjoy the ethereal music, Choral Evensong at St. Paul’s Cathedral is a highlight of London’s cultural and spiritual life at Christmas.
